Autism, A Family and the Grace of God

FacebookGoogle+StumbleUponShare

Our story begins, like most good stories, at the beginning…

I suppose that would be when my husband and I met…and later married…or if you want to go all the way back…when I was born. I think for the purposes of this blog, and this part of our story, I will start with the birth of our son.

Cooper was born, our third child, a son arriving behind two sisters. He weighed in at 9lbs 11oz and has not slowed down. He is now 15 years old and weighs in at 270 pounds and stand 6 feet tall. He is a big boy, but he will always be, my little buddy.

Cooper was diagnosed at 18 months with moderate to severe Autism. Looking back, we knew something was up very early on…from the moment the process of facing our reality began we have put one foot in front of the other and endeavored to keep him on a path moving forward. Many times the path was difficult, and many times God stepped in and strengthened us through the most difficult times. He provided friends and support where we needed them and when we needed them.

Here you will find a little (well a lot) about Autism, a little about our lives, and a lot about the Grace of God guiding our journey. We have travelled and transitioned, moved and stayed, we have laughed and cried, and loved and played…it is a never ending, uphill battle, to be the lights that God created us to be…shining in the world.
